Adelaide Teague Case
On Thursday, June 19, we celebrate the life of Adelaide Teague Case. Adelaide was an American educator who is recognized on the calendar of saints of the Episcopal Church. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 1, 1887, she was raised in New York City. She received her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in 1908, her M.A. in 1919, and her Ph.D. in 1924 from Columbia University.
Adelaide Teague Case
Here’s the trajectory of her career:
1914 to 1916: librarian in the national headquarters of the Episcopal Church, NY
1917 to 1919: taught at the New York Training School for Deaconesses.
1919 to 1941: taught in the religious education department of Columbia University’s Teachers College.
Sept. 22, 1941: became Professor of Christian Education in the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, making her the first woman to be appointed to full professional rank in an Anglican seminary.
Her two major publications are Liberal Christianity and Religious Education (1924) and As Modern Writers See Jesus: A Descriptive Bibliography of Books about Jesus (1927).
Adelaide died in Boston on June 19, 1948. Case was a Christian who was socially liberal, yet thoroughly orthodox in her theology. She believed Jesus to be the same yesterday, today, and forever. She conveyed this belief by employing modern methods to reveal to others the truth of God made known in Jesus.

Hello Everyone!
Well, we are surely into summer now, aren't we? I am just loving this sunshine and being able to wear my sandals! Something about all this sunshine just makes me feel happy! Hope you are feeling happy too!
Construction is moving along behind the Red Door. I am almost used to only coming in and out through the front door after a week of practice! LOL. Each and every day there is more progress. Right now we have deep trenches ready for the foundation I'm guessing. It looks like a lot of work!
We will be CLOSED on July 4 for Independence Day.
I am currently looking for the following ongoing shifts to be filled:
-Tuesday Mornings in Donations 10-12:30. Working with Don Bergner
-Friday Morning Cashier Assistant 11 - 1 Working with our Cashier/Greeting guests etc.
-Tuesday Morning Cashier Assistant (same as above)
Short Term Shifts Available:
-Tuesday Afternoon 12:30-3pm July 8th and 15th in Donations
-Thursday Afternoon 12:30-3pm July 10 and 17 in Donations
Everyone, please welcome our new volunteer Angelique Wilson. Angelique will be filling in as Cashier on Thursday mornings while Claire is out for the summer. Angelique has already made a big impression on us as she is bilingual. She started speaking Spanish with a client on her first day here and we were all so happy that she has that skill! Something that is much needed! Welcome Angelique!
Our Summer Potluck will be held on August 13th at 4pm on the church Property. Please let me know what you'd like to bring. Also plan to bring a folding chair or blanket to sit on and any special beverages that you prefer. We will provide cutlery and plates.
We WILL be participating in Whale of a Sale on Saturday, June 28th. We will be open from 10-3 and Debbie will be Manager that Day. Debbie and I are planning to have a big sale to attract a lot of customers that day so you may want to stop by the shop. I currently have enough volunteers to make the day possible. Thank you everyone for being willing to show up!
That's all for now and HUGS,
Dawn
