Reflection

Laburnum Twenty-five
—Margo Huth  5/9/2025

Your golden lanterns
bring joy.

There are a number of you,
peacefully hanging
near each other.

No winds to disturb,
no chatter from squirrels.

You are still,
a multitude
of the brightest,
butter yellow.

You all bow down
to the red robin,
walking
in lime green grass.

Carry on your shoulders,
spring air
full of eagles
and sparrows.

Dawn Jex

It’s a big week around here! We have our temporary donation shed up and running and Ed’s shed has been moved over to the church!

We have also cleared out the half of the backroom that was for retail and are using it for storage during the construction period. In this space you will currently find books that are being stored, our rolling carts, some plastic containers and eventually the North West Center bags will go in there too. Maybe even our cardboard boxes, if we can figure out how to make them fit! LOL

Because we have lost some retail space (temporarily) we will be keeping fewer items from donations in some categories. This mainly affects items we used to put in the back room: tools, beauty supplies, pet goodies, picture frames etc. We still have space for a small amount of these items but it’s going to be tight!

Boxes! Our box closet is no more! Boxes will need to be saved for customers and goodwill. Let’s make a practice of placing empty boxes out front of the shop under the eaves In neat stacks for now. Customers can use them for shopping or free. As construction approaches, we - all staff and volunteers - will need to get used to going in and out of the shop through the front door as our back door will be a construction zone.

As we are in a time of transition we have had a drop in donations lately. So please feel free to bring in any items from home or from friends at this time! Thank you.

As of this moment we still have use of the NWC closet and the goodwill storage bin but that will change when construction starts.

If you’re unsure of anything, feel free to ask Debbie or I. There are going to be lots of changes and things we are "figuring out" along the way.

We still have some shifts that need filling for June:
Cashier on Tuesday Mornings June 10, 17 and 24. (10am -12:30)
Donations on Tuesday Afternoons June 3,10,17. (12:30-3)
Donations on Thursday Afternoon June 5 (12:30-3)
Hard Good Pricing Monday June 2, 9, (approx 10-1)
Clothing Pricing Thursday Afternoon June 19 (12:30-3)

I think that's everything for now but there could be NEW news tomorrow. I'll try to keep the emails to a minimum.

Cheers and here's to another great week at TRD!
