Weekly Update 24 October 2025

Reflection

Margo Huth

It is autumn and colors are changing.
                Solid green leaves
develop hints of rust-brown.

They laugh their way into shades of orange.
                Red creeps into the design
as crows call while they build nests.

Squirrels argue all up and down a poplar’s
black and maroon trunk.
Garbage people arrive, then take away,
what we humans refuse.

The air is cooler under large grey clouds.
Winds off the ocean,
offer much rain in the future.
They promise sweet, fresh scents,
in the circle of seasons.

Soft, gold light rests near the earth.
Gardens get ready for winter.

They bring food for bodies young and old.
Birds flock together saying hello.

Flicker sounds her whistles,
for our world in need of love and hope.

Diocesan Convention

Dan Moore & Emily Sander

Diocesan Convention takes place this Saturday. Representing Christ Church are Delegates Dan Moore and Emily Sander. Emily will be replacing Stephanie Galbraith, who is unable to attend. Please keep them in prayer as they serve our church and Diocese.

Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with our Delegates Dan Moore and Emily Sander, who take counsel in our Diocesan Convention for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach them in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide them to perceive what is right, and grant them both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Red Door Thrift Shop

Dawn Jex

Dawn Jex, Red Door Manager

Hello Everyone,

If you've driven by the shop lately you will notice that the painting job is almost complete and it is looking SOOOO good. We also have all of the flooring in and are just waiting for the base molding to go in. Please say a little prayer that Puget Sound Energy will move us a little closer to the top of the list so we can get the electricity switched over soon. This is our biggest hurdle at the moment to moving forward.

Last week I had Al and a couple other volunteers take apart our old Goodwill container. In the meantime, we will be putting boxes of goodwill or FREE items on the curb. At the end of each day these items will go into our dumpster. If you have room to take a box home and put it in your trash, please feel free to do so. This will only be an interim solution until we get moved into the new building.

The Calendars for November are up on the bulletin board.  We will be closed on 11/27 and 11/28 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I have several shifts available: Cashier on Thursday afternoons 11/8 and 13 and 20. Someone to work the Donations area on Wednesdays 10-1 with Tom Young. If you have a friend or neighbor who might be interested to volunteer with us - please ask them. We could use a couple of regular and dedicated people at this time of year.

All of the Halloween gear and costumes are on sale this week. Next week I will start decorating for Thanksgiving and the week after that we will hopefully start putting out Christmas Items!!!!!

Much love to everyone and Happy Holiday Season,
Dawn
