Weekly Update 1 May 2026

This past weekend Grace and I were blessed by being able to attend the annual Cathedral Day at St. Mark’s in Seattle. It was made even more special by witnessing Mary Ellen Huggins and Jason Wells being formally received into the Episcopal Church. It’s a magnificent cathedral, and the service moving and inspiring.
Cathedral Day 2026
What a wonderful experience seeing all these different folks from all over the diocese being confirmed, received, or renewing their baptismal vows! At times I was moved to tears by it all.
The following day, Sunday, it was Morning Prayer in our humble little church in Anacortes. A much smaller venue, and a considerably smaller congregation, yet the very same God was present. Isn’t that a comforting thought?
“In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.” (John 14:2)

The Red Door Thrift Shop Update
Dawn Jex
Dawn Jex, Red Door Manager
Hello Everyone,
The weather certainly has been lovely and I am feeling so blessed that we have had so much sunshine lately! I hope you've been enjoying it too!
Things at the shop are going well. We ARE in need of a few more volunteers and Debbie and I have been asking folks. Would you be able to help with that? If you all could ask a friend or two if they'd like to come volunteer, maybe we could fill all of our shifts. I know that we need someone on Tuesday afternoons to work with Eric in donations, and we could use a few more hard good pricers - for Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Thanks for your help. If we all work together we should be able to find some folks in NO time.
If YOU would like to help with some of these shifts or maybe move to a new day/time just take a look at the May calendars that are up on the bulletin board and let me know what tickles your fancy. Cross training in a new area is always good too!
Thank you also to those of you who sent me ideas regarding the naming of the second retail room. We have some great ideas to throw into the hopper. Keep them coming!
We are swiftly moving into Summer Mode. Mother’s Day displays will be going up tomorrow and sales are: Pink tagged clothing 50 cents, All Pillows $1 and All Totes $1 so stop by and take advantage of those specials this week.
For May, we WILL be closed for Memorial Day which is Monday, May 25th this year so if you are a Monday volunteer please put that on your calendar as a day OFF.
That's all I can think of for now. Send me a text or call if you have any questions and Happy MAY!!!
Dawn
