A Joyful Noise June 2026

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

Senior Warden Message

Tom Young, Senior Warden

Goodbye, Rev. Courtney; hello, Rev. _________!

Tom Young

On May 24, we celebrated Pentecost, the birthday of the church of Jesus Christ. We also celebrated our years with Courtney at the pastoral helm of Christ Church. In the three years she’s been with us, officially 10 hours per week, Courtney has gently and capably guided us to higher ground in our spiritual walk. And that will continue in new ways as she steps fully into her next roles as Canon Missioner of TCM Churches and Dean of the Iona School.

As we enter this new territory, we are left wondering, “Now what?”  Our sacramental needs will be supplied by Rev. Keith Axberg and Rev. Rilla Barrett, both of whom we know and love. But will we have another part-time vicar? And if so, when? The Bishop’s Committee and the Ministry Support Circle have had much discussion on this very question.

What I can report is that the search is on!  The Diocesan Canon Missioner for Transitions, David Bishop, is actively pursuing another vicar for us! The timing depends on the availability of viable candidates. In case you’re wondering, yes, we have some control over the process; we will not take just anyone! After all, the bar was set pretty high by our previous vicar!

Let’s pray that the pastoral oversight we’ve experienced over the last three years continues, and that the Lord will provide the right person for Christ Church.

A Pentecost Day Celebration

Rev. Courtney Jones

We had a lovely Day of Pentecost, complete with an annual congregational photo, that culminated with a loving farewell to Rev. Courtney as our Interim Vicar.

The following is an excerpt from Rev. Courtney’s Pentecost Reflection:

…this isn’t goodbye. I remain connected to Christ Church in my role as Canon Missioner for Total Common Ministry Congregations. I fully expect to continue to watch the Holy Spirit move among you.

After all, I’ve already seen it. I’ve seen it in the many ways in which you have been inspired and equipped as ministers: in the formation of preachers, worship leaders, pastoral caregivers, and other lay leaders. I’ve seen it in the generosity, and creativity, and resilience of this congregation. I’ve seen it in your willingness to embrace an outsider like me, and allow me to walk with you for this season of your congregational life. To serve among you in this time has been a privilege.
