A Joyful Noise November 2025

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

Senior Warden Message

Tom Young, Senior Warden

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.
(Revelation 21:4)

Tom Young

This Sunday, November 2, is All Saints Sunday, when we remember and honor those who have gone before us. The tree dedication ceremony at the Red Door Thrift Shop on October 5 was well attended and was a powerful and deeply meaningful event that memorialized four Red Door volunteers and, in a way, was a precursor to All Saints’ Day. Many thanks to Rev. Courtney Jones and Betty Anne McCoy for leading that ceremony.

The Youth Group has created an ofrenda (a memorial altar for Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead) in the back of the sanctuary, for us all to honor and remember loved ones. Check it out - some names have already been added.

November 2 is also Ingathering Sunday for our 2026 pledges. Ingathering Sunday is an invitation to reflect on the ways we have been blessed and to respond by investing in Christ Church’s ministries. This act of giving allows for planning, as the church blesses and uses these pledges to budget for our ministry programs, worship, and operations. Accordingly, it becomes an honored moment of collective commitment, echoing themes of unity, gratitude, and a shared mission in faith.

I encourage you all to consider how you might serve God and your church, in service and/or monetarily. Whatever form it takes, your generosity empowers our church to embody the love of Christ in real and tangible ways. And if you miss Sunday November 2, you can bring your 2026 pledge card at any time throughout November or December. But the sooner the better for planning purposes! God bless and thank you!

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another
with whatever gift each of you has received (1 Peter 4:10)

The Anacortes Family Center provides a comprehensive approach to serve women and families with children. AFC creates an individualized plan to help each family reach self-sufficiency, with the goal of ending their reliance on social services. The program includes homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, transformative housing, and affordable housing.  The emergency shelter offers a safe place for those in urgent need. Intensive case management helps clients identify barriers and set short and long-term goals and achieve self-sufficiency by the end of their sixty to ninety-day program. AFC's holistic approach includes access to health care, budgeting, life skill classes, legal assistance, and mental health counseling.
